This new guideline suggests a less aggressive treatment target, recommending a systolic blood pressure of less than 150 mmHg for most adults aged 60 or older. For adults aged 60 or older with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack the recommended target is a systolic blood pressure of less than 140 mmHg.
